Environmental Noise

MRL Acoustics are able to provide professional advice for a wide range of various environmental issues relating to noise.  Environmental noise covers most external noise including transportation noise, industrial noise, noise from entertainment and licensed premises, wind farms, etc.

Some of these environmental noise sources may operate intermittently during a 24 hour period and can continue throughout the night-time.  Such noise may cause a statutory noise nuisance to perhaps even causing side effects such as elevated stress or sleep deprivation etc, and therefore this noise must be monitored and controlled.

If there is a specific noise present at a given location, we can survey and monitor the noise, analyse the type of sound and provide appropriate and suitable noise mitigation advice.  This is of particular importance when a new residential housing development is planned near to an existing noise source, or when introducing a noise source close to an existing residential area.

On a larger scale, from a business wanting to implement a new piece of equipment, or relocate to new premises, to a new road needing to be built, etc, we can predict what the noise impact on the surrounding area will be.  By performing a survey on-site or using data provided by manufacturers, traffic consultants, etc, it is possible to calculate the noise impact at a given distance from the proposed noise source.  This process of measuring and calculating noise can sometimes be referred to as noise mapping.

We can carry out any environmental noise assessment or noise nuisance investigation.
